The scientific aim of this work is to study multi-component batch adsorption systems using deep eutectic solvent (DES) modified XAD-4 adsorbents on catechol, guaiacol and phenol model compounds. The goal is to gain a deeper insight into the mechanisms influencing how competitive adsorption affects the system's rate and equilibrium capacity. The candidate’s tasks will include:
- Modification of XAD-4 adsorbents with DES
- Prepare multi-component solutions of catechol, guaiacol and phenol in varying concentrations (100-1000 mg/L)
- Carry out batch adsorption experiments in a thermostatic oscillator using the modified adsorbents
A candidate with a good background in chemistry and experimental experience is highly desirable. -
